The 1st Balkan Poetry Marathon aspires to contribute to the strengthening of the image of poetry, but also to the interaction and acquaintance of the peoples of the Balkans. The Balkans, a crossroads of cultures and trade, have always functioned positively in change and in the “foreign”. Always welcoming and tolerant in a unique multicolor, with a variety of languages, religions and ethnicities. So even in this Poetry Marathon the plus one participation from the distant Peru is not something so outside the Balkans.

The main speaker of the event will be the Vice Rector of the University of Peloponnese, Professor George Andreiomenos.

Co-organizers of the 1st Balkan Poetry Marathon are the Peloponnese Region of Greece and the Municipality of Kalamata.

Sponsors of the event are the Balkan Institute of Entrepreneurship, the Chamber of Messinia and the Cultural Organization “Olive Roads”.

Communication sponsors are the BALKAZAAR and BALKANIA TERRA INGOGNITA websites, the MessiniaLive news station, the KALAMATAJOURNAL news website and the BOTIMET TOENA publishing house

The online magazine www.cultureofbalkans.com promotes works and events of artists, and publishes articles on arts and culture (info@cultureofbalkans.com)
